VanderPloeg and Tucker Receive MIAA Player of the Week Honors

A pair of Calvin College seniors have received MIAA Player of the Week honors in their respective fall sports. In women's soccer, senior goaltender Leah VanderPloeg has been named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career. In volleyball, senior setter Laura Tucker has been named MIAA Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

In a four-game victory over Hope Wednesday night, Tucker tossed out 60 assists and was credited with eight digs, five blocks and two kills. Her assist total was the second-highest single-match total of her collegiate career. Tucker is averaging 13.11 assists-per-game this year and is among the nation's leaders in assists-per-game average.
