Kara Kuipers Receives Great Lakes All-Region Honorable Mention Honors

Calvin College junior Kara Kuipers has received Great Lakes All-Region honorable mention honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

The AVCA names 12 players at the NCAA III level to an all-region team and an additional 12 players to an honorable mention team.

A junior middle-hitter, Kuipers hails from Hudsonville and is a graduate of Unity Christian High School. This past fall, Kuipers was named to the All-MIAA first team for the first time in her career. Over the course of the season, she averaged 4.10 kills and 1.78 blocks-per-game along with a hitting percentage of .323. She is currently ranked third in the nation in blocks-per- game average.

She was named MIAA Player of the Week twice this fall and received all-tournament honors at nvitationals hosted by Kalamazoo, Elmhurst and Calvin. In conference matches, Kuipers led the MIAA in blocks-per-game, averaging 1.54 blocks-per-game. She
was also fourth in kills-per-game (4.10) and sixth in hitting percentage (.296).

Kuipers is the 13th individual in Calvin volleyball history to receive Great Lakes All-Region accolades from the AVCA.
